Project background

Scaling an IoT business to multiple large customers surfaces multi-tenancy problems rarely seen at smaller sizes — noisy neighbors, tenant isolation, per-customer compliance. The client wanted an architecture built for that scale from the start.

Challenge

Achieving strong tenant isolation without per-tenant cost exploding, supporting per-customer compliance variations, and deploying safely across many live tenants simultaneously.

Approach & solution

We designed a cell-based architecture where tenants are assigned to isolated cells with their own infrastructure footprint, but cells share operational tooling and deployments. Rollouts progress cell-by-cell with automated safety gates, and per-customer compliance controls sit at the cell boundary.

Results & benefits

The client now serves large customers confidently, with isolation and compliance handled architecturally rather than operationally. Deployment risk dropped because blast radius of any bad change is bounded to a cell.
